HI Historic District, BW King Charles Inn or Shem Creek Inn?

Will arrive Friday morning (10/19) and check out Saturday morning with check in Saturday morning at Middleton Place Inn for a wedding at Magnolia Plantation. For Friday night accomodations which one of the 3 above should I pick to stay at and why. We want to be able to see downtown and while all 3 are averaging the same price for the night I am confused as to which one would be our best choice. We also have considered staying Friday night at Middleton Place Inn but really wanted to see Historic Charleston without having to drive far.

Any help you could give me would help with making our decision.

Thanks in advance!

shems creek is fresh seafood eating terrritory, almost anyplace downtown will be within walking distance of most shopping, bars and restaurants. we%26#39;ve had good luck with the mills house and church street inn.

HI Historic District, BW King Charles Inn or Shem Creek Inn?

I have stayed at the Best Western King Charles and throughly enjoyed it. The beds were very comfortable and it had period furnishings and decor. If I remember correctly, there was even afternoon tea!

For one night, and a real Charleston experience, I would choose one of the two downtown choices. Holiday Inn Historic District has super reviews on TA.

I loved the Holiday Inn Historic District, it%26#39;s unlike any HI I%26#39;ve ever stayed in. But keep in mind that it really isn%26#39;t in the heart of everything, it%26#39;s on the very edge of town so it%26#39;s a bit of a walk to the action in the Historic District. If you have a car, then it won%26#39;t be an issue. I didn%26#39;t have a car and it wasn%26#39;t a problem for me, and I went in February and had no problem getting a cab to and from the hotel at night if I didn%26#39;t want to walk in the dark. The cab was cheap, too. I want to say $2-3 for one person.

Just recommended the Holiday Inn Historic District to some friends, and they stayed there week before last - they said it was fantastic!! We%26#39;ve personally stayed at the Shem Creek Inn, and we love it there - it%26#39;s wonderful sitting out on the balcony and watching the shrimping boats coming in. However, it does take about 10 minutes to drive back across the bridge into downtown Charleston - but the drive across the bridge is awesome!!

Thanks to all of you for your responses. We have decide to stay at HI and can%26#39;t wait.
