We stayed in Harbourview on one of our other visits, and while we liked the hotel (and view/location, etc.) very much, we hard a hard time sleeping or even relaxing-- just way too much noise and busyness from street. Stayed once at John Rutledge and much enjoyed, but would like to try something different this time. Suggestions? Main priority is quiet, but would also love spacious and handsome room/bathroom. (Wentworth and Marketplace too expensive probably)
Also: This will be for one night, either October 27 or 28. I%26#39;m wondering whether things will be even more noisy/active because it%26#39;s around Halloween? Ought we to avoid that weekend if we truly don%26#39;t enjoy ';hub-bub';?
Thanks for in-put!
good QUIET place to stay in Charleston?
Oct. 27-28th is the last weekend for the Fall Candlelight tour of Homes %26amp; Gardens. I would say that the downtown will be buzzing with people out and about!
If you are looking for something that is nice and quiet then you could try the Planters Inn~ Ask for a room in the back on the courtyard, the Indigo Inn~ All of their rooms face the interior courtyard versus Meeting Street, the Governors House Inn~ All of the their rooms are quiet or the 1843 Battery Carriage House Inn~ All of their rooms are in the carriage house in the back so they too are off the street.
I am not sure what the prices are going to be... I would imagine that they are going to be at their peak! We have been very busy.
good QUIET place to stay in Charleston?
Many thanks!
Two reviews of Planter%26#39;s Inn from Sept 07 say that construction was going on during their stay; you might want to check it out before you book. It%26#39;s funny you mention the noise because we%26#39;ve had the same experience when we%26#39;ve stayed in downtown Charleston - LOL :-)! If you go to Wentworth Mansion website, there are internet specials available for Sunday night - $329/night which is not inexpensive, but a great rate for this hotel %26amp; probably quieter than some others in the Market area. If you did want to be in the thick of things, you might look at French Quarter Inn, which also has availability for the Sunday night. Good luck!
