question about beaches

I am planning to bring my family to either Isle of Palms or Folly Beach in mid September. We will have a 3 yr old and an infant with us. We had heard that Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms was best, but after a little research in trying to find a condo/villa, have found out that beach erosion is a problem there. Is that the cae with all of the beaches? We don%26#39;t want to be restricted to beach use at only 1/4 of the day or at odd times of the day. Also what are suggested accomodations for these areas. We would prefer to be on the beach as carrying all the various equipmet for the kids could be a problem. Also are there activities such as putt-putt or anything to do in these areas? Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. We were looking at Shipwatch Villa or Mariner%26#39;s Walk in IOP and at Chs. Oceanfront Vills in Folly Beach but really don%26#39;t have any idea about any of them.

Thanks for your help in advance

question about beaches

We stayed at Mariners Walk last year and it was a big problem during high tide. You could not stay on the beach. It literally came up to the dune. They also were bringing sand bags in during low tide. It was low season but it was sort of annoying. However, i know they have to get it done somehow.

Based on other posts I have read, the situation is not getting any better. I would recommend staying at the southern part of Wild Dunes. That area had tons of beach space for people. The more north you stayed---the worse it got.

question about beaches

We have always loved Wild Dunes, but our recent stay July 14-21, 2007 was shocking since the beach erosion issue was quite significant. Properties affected are Ocean Club, Tidewater, Port-o-Call, Seascape, and Summer House. Even if you don%26#39;t care about beach access, looking at the 50-gallon sand bags is not pretty. We had to drive down to the southern part of Wild Dunes for beach access. Right now the properties you mentioned, Mariner%26#39;s Walk and Shipwatch, I think are still OK with beach access, but who knows what they will look like in September. The problem is getting significantly worse each day. I would check very carefully before going if beach access is important to you.

If you want a big, wide, pristine beach that is perfect for small children, consider renting a condo or cottage on Kiawah. Kiawah%26#39;s beach is in great shape. No putt-putt,however.

What about the beaches near the Grand Pavilion and the Seagrove Villas? Is the erosion as bad in that area? We will be there Sept 13-17 for our first time at IOP and we are so excited! We are renting a townhouse in the Racquet Club area of Wild Dunes. Does anyone know if this is a good area to rent?

Ok, I%26#39;ll answer my own question since we were there Sept. 13-17. It was beautiful! We stayed in one of the Racquet Club villas in Wild Dunes and it was immaculate. Not too far to walk to the beach and a great pool right down the street from our villa. There was almost no beach at high tide, but we didn%26#39;t see any erosion around the Grand Pavilion area, which is pretty much where we stayed. The beaches were so clean and pretty. We can%26#39;t wait to go back!
