Any added suggestion are appreciated

* Great restaurants (local and fine) CHS and SAV

*Not to miss attractions

*Any unique, seldom explored things to do or places to visit

(we especially love animal and adventure)

*Places to stay. Unusually Cool Motel? Band B?, Great Value Hotel in Historic District of Savannah? ( Is it best, or preferable to stay in historic district?)

*Charleston ? What area is the best to stay? I hear staying (renting) on the beach is cool or Sullivans island. Beach is not that important to me unless it%26#39;s also a great location.

* Is there any good reason to stay in more than one place in the Charleston area?

Thank you so much!!!!

For your Charleston visit, I would add Fort Moultrie to your list. On the way there, grab a bite to eat in Shem Creek. We like Shem Creek Bar and Grill. Ask for a seat on their enclosed water-front porch. On your way back into the downtown area, stop at the base of the bridge and take a stroll/pics. Enjoy!

I am not a Charleston ';expert'; but have a little advice. I love both Savannah and Charleston, have visited both a few times, and I would take a day away from Savannah, and add it to Charleston. I love both places but feel there is more to do in the Charleston area.

My favorite Charleston restaurant, not to be missed, is Magnolia%26#39;s. S.N.O.B. is also terrific. In Savannah, we like River House, right on the river, for great drinks and good food, and of course, The Lady %26amp; Sons, if you like country, comfort food. It doesn%26#39;t get any better.

I would stay in the historic district of both cities if you can swing it. Make sure it%26#39;s in the heart of the district, not the ';fringe'; of the historic district, where you%26#39;ll need to ride shuttles everywhere, and isn%26#39;t that walkable.

We have stayed at The Gastonian B%26amp;B near Forsythe Park (too expensive) in Savannah, and we have stayed at The Hyatt (right on the river.) Would recommend the latter.

In Charleston, we stayed at the Hampton Inn, historic district. Very nice Hampton but you had to ride the shuttle everywhere as it is ';fringe.'; We%26#39;ve also stayed across the river in the hotels at Patriot%26#39;s Point ... nice but you gotta drive. On our next trip, we are staying at The HarbourView Inn right on the harbor in the historic district. Perfect location.

Have a great trip, whatever you decide!

P.S.: We also stayed at Charleston Place Hotel, fabulous if you want to spend a bundle.

If you%26#39;re going to stroll the bridge (which I highly recommend), go to Patriot%26#39;s Point and do the tour or at least stop and look at the ships and Vietnam compound.

Drive out to IOP to see houses and beautiful beach. We like the Boathouse restaurant for yummy food and killer sunsets from the upstairs - open air - deck or downstairs - enclosed - patio.

Have fun!

I totally agree w/Arabella - I would definitely take a Savannah day and add it to Charleston. There%26#39;s so much to see and do in Charleston, I feel like you%26#39;d be a little rushed in just 4 1/2 days!

go to the historiccharleston.org and ck out the annual garden tours in March- April 08 I think that March 21 st is the big oyster roast at Drayton Hall Plantation. Actually at that time of year there will be an oyster roast just about somewhere every wkd night.

On SI they are held at East Cooper Motor Club on Goldbug Island which is the little building you see on the right side as you go across the bridge from SI into Mount Pleasant. Admission for most every one ( all you can eat) is usually about $15 but you have to bring your own shucker to these events!!

Contact local realestate companies for a beach house rental on SI and dine at High Thyme great low country fare- and have a beer at Dunleavys.

Take a tour of the harbour and ck out the Aquarium the views alone are worth it.

There is a Hilton across the Cooper, that will be less than a DT stay. There are also plently of condos on front beach IOP.
