Need help. My family and i will be in the area 9/29 for 5 days.
It has been years since our last trip. Please advise us on good
places to eat. We normally do not like the chains. We can eat at those here in Knoxville etc. We are looking for places the locals know about. Seafood, Steaks, bar food etc. Thanks in advance

We feel the same way about chains. Our trouble is through the years we have found a few places we like. Hit those every trip and that doesn%26#39;t leave many chances to experiment at others. Our big thing in the summer is crowds. We stay away from the more popular places simply because of the long lines. Off season trips give us a chance to try others but always seem to end up at the old familier places.
We stay at north end of NMB in Cherry Grove. Some of our regular stops are:
Tarbaby%26#39;s for breakfast.
Atlantis for breakfast.
Basil%26#39;s Pizza. Outdoor seating. I love the hot sandwiches. Others love the pizzas.
Duffy Street Seafood Shack. Two locations but we like the one on Sea Mountain Highway. Very laid back with very good food.
Captain%26#39;s Plank Buffet. Not the fanciest place along the Grand Strand. Prices are lower than the big buffets out on Rt 17. Convenient location and seldom ever a wait to get in.
Boulinneau%26#39;s IGA has a deli and cafeteria style counter. Great for quick snack or meal. Tried it our last trip in July. Couldn%26#39;t beleive how good it was and inexpensive.
In Ocean Drive we like Hoskin%26#39;s Restuarant on Main Street. Good breakfast. Have heard they have very good diiners. Couple times we have headed there the line was down the sidewalk.
Out on Rt 17. Jersey Mike%26#39;s Subs is pretty good. Something different. Nothig like a Subway or any of the larger chains.
For steak we like Logan%26#39;s. Yes it%26#39;s a chain and we have one here. But we%26#39;ve never had a bad meal there. I%26#39;m still trying to figure out what a $35-$40 steak does from the up-scale places.
Crabcatcher%26#39;s in Little River is fun.
We%26#39;re planning/hoping on hitting the Driftwood Restuarant at the Cherry Grove pier this trip.

Pop has hit on our local favorites...Basil%26#39;s...(calzones are great), Duffy Street...(The best fish sandwich...blackened)...Crabcatchers...(if you can get blue crabs, get them...oysters and mussels...not a big fan of their fried food). If you want fresh, fried, seafood, short drive to Calabash....Seafood Hut is a local favorite.
