A dive with great seafood?

While visiting Charleston next month, my husband and I would like to have dinner one night at a great casual seafood place that%26#39;s not touristy. Off the beaten path is fine. Any suggestions?

The locals will have to tell you how to find it, but The Wreck close to Shem Creek is a great seafood dive.

A dive with great seafood?

The place mentioned in the previous post is:

Wreck of the Richard %26amp; Charlene 106 Haddrell St., Mount Pleasant, SC (843)854-0042

In downtown, we like Hank%26#39;s Seafood on Hayne Street - It is not a dive, but it has great seafood.

I%26#39;ve never been, but a lot of folks around here love to eat seafood at Bowen%26#39;s Island.

I went to Bowen%26#39;s Island one time. My car almost bottomed out in the HUGE holes in the dirt road going out there. When we got there it was closed. A friend who lives at Folly went one time and said the food was terrible and it was so filthy they were afraid to eat what they had ordered.

We used to go to a little dumpy place way out on Folly Road but it closed a few months ago and has been torn down.

You could also try Red%26#39;s on Shem Creek over in Mt. Pleasant - the food and atmospher there are great, and it%26#39;s definitely casual! People pull their boats right up to the restaurant and get off - complete with their pet dogs!! We really enjoyed it!

Definitely would%26#39;nt try Reds then. i would never eat at a place that allows flea infested creatures to roam around.

The Wreck is a dive with good food. Love the hammers used to crack the crab! I miss the Anchor Line too. Never been a fan of Bowen%26#39;s Island. I have family who love it, it%26#39;s a little to rustic for my taste. (Just can%26#39;t get past the surroundings to enjoy the food.)

on east bay st. just up the street from the customs house across the street on the corner is the steamroom. they used to have the best lunch inthe world, and still do well at supper time. it%26#39;s not much from the outside and kind of reminds me of the french quarter in new orleans but they have great food.

Grrrrr I don%26#39;t know about Indiana, but not all dogs in Charleston have fleas. I know mine doesn%26#39;t. Have you ever considered how many different kinds of bugs there are in a restaurant? I don%26#39;t think fleas are the biggest of your worries.

Harumph

was that for the governor?
