things to do in Charleston with toddler

hi all,

we are spending 2-3 days in Charleston with our very active 18 mth old son.

We have been told by friends to stop there on our whistle stop tour but haven%26#39;t told us what to do.

We will probably rent a car and I would like to stay in the historic part so any recommendations what to do when there in addition to walking the historic part of the town?
