The outer banks

I would like to know if anybody can tell me how long the drive from MB to the outer banks takes. I would like to visit a real lighthouse and I believe there is one somewhere in that area.

Thanks

The outer banks

If you can add 3-4 days onto the end of your trip, I could give you a schedule of enjoyable things to do and places to stay while visiting NC%26#39;s Outer Backs (OBX) and some great historical lighthouses. It would be a fun and busy 3 days for sure. I%26#39;m talking about visiting the lighthouses from Lookout ....north, good places to eat and stay and do things. It%26#39;s not a easy visit from Myrtle and back at all.

There is a lighthouse at Caswell Beach; the Oak Island Lighthouse. Nothing historical, it was built in 1958. It%26#39;s about 45 minutes north of North Myrtle Brach (the city).

^^^ should read North Myrtle Beach

Unfortunately we can%26#39;t add any days on to our trip, we had to cut 2 off but I am thinking if it isn%26#39;t someplace we could take a daytrip too then maybe I will research that area to vacation at next year and split it up.

Thanks for your help

It is definately not a day trip. Depending on which lighthouse and traffice, it could take a minimum of five to six hours. We go to the outerbanks for a week every summer and love it. It is the total opposite of Myrtle Beach (too commercialized and too many people). It is very relaxing, but there is plenty to do. You should consider taking a vacation there.

Just an FYI - Folly Beach ( outside of Charleston ) has a cool lighthouse too. You can%26#39;t go in it - but they give tours out to the little island that is is on. During high tide... it is covered by the ocean. That is it in my profile pic! :o)
