How is the MIddleton Place restaurant for dinner? We were not planning on touring the plantation but thought it might be fun to have dinner there. If you have dinner there you can tour the gardens free of charge. Does anyone know the price range of dinner?
We are interested in eating somewhere that is unique to the area of Charleston (we are from Michigan). I am not necessarily looking for 5 star food (we have Chicago close by for fine dining). I am more interested in local flavor.
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!
Also are downtown shops open on Sundays?
Dinner at Middleton Place
We ate at the Middleton Planation on our trip last March and enjoyed it very much. We arrived early and were able to walk the gardens free of charge, which was a very nice treat. Hardly anyone else there (though we were in town the week before Spring Break). Dinner was lovely. We had a table that overlooked one of the ponds in the gardens and were able to watch different animals coming an going (I was specifically watching for alligators since we had already seen two in the reflecting ponds).
Services was excellent. We were one of four tables that night, though we did have an early reservation and the place did get more crowded by the time we left.
Food was very good. For the two of us we probably spent $70-80 but that included soup, dinner, 2 drinks each and dessert. I had a duck dish with a sauce that was excellent! Check out the plantation website-they have a link to them menu that will help you decide if you would like to go there.
I would definitely recommend is as nice place outside of town to eat.
Other local treats-we loved Poogans Porch, 82 Queen, McCradys and Carolinas. Actually, we really never had a bad meal on the entire trip.
Have a wonderful trip! I wish we were going again soon!
Dinner at Middleton Place
I ate dinner there in a weekend package deal with lodging. We ate on the back porch and the meal was good. I enjoyed my entire stay at Middleton Place.
Thank you for your comments. I made a reservation. We will be celebrating my mother%26#39;s 73 birthday. I think she will enjoy the surroundings.
