Hotel Help

My wife and I arriving Oct 24 for three nights - last minute surprise trip for her birthday from Connecticut. Trouble is, most of the finer bed and breakfasts/ inns are already booked or extremely expensive $3-400/night. I did manage to find three nights at the Renaissance Hotel Marriott Historic Dist. and there is also availability at Mills House Hotel (Holiday?). Any comments on either? or another suggestion. Looking to stay mid $200%26#39;s. I did not want a boxy commercial chain hotel feel. Also looking to be in the historic district.

Also we will be driving up from a two night stay in Savannah and we were looking for possibly a plantation type of inn to stay at prior to coming into Charleston.

I called Mills House on this one - could not believe it! The Mills House is now owned by Holiday Inn. That is something new! The Mills House is located on the corner of Queen and King Streets and is near what is known as Four Corners. It definately not your typical Holiday Inn plastic box. It has been around for many years and is very charming. It is very close to many wonderful ships, galleries and restaurants.

...I misspoke - it is on Queen and Meeting Streets (just 1/2 block from King Street). Still in shock it is a Holiday Inn!

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Thomas Lamboll House, and it would fit your budget. It%26#39;s walking distance to the battery and to King Street.

Mills House has been a Holiday Inn property for years - I%26#39;ve stayed on Priority Club points for about 8 years or so. It%26#39;s a great property - very convenient and very nice. I highly recommend it.
